This is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization, created and founded in Los Angeles, California in the Spring of 1938, for
the purpose of creating greater interest in finer ballroom dancing, and to establish friendliness and good will among the
smooth dancers.
— Preamble, National Smooth Dancers Constitution
Our Organization
San Diego Smooth Dancers (SDSD) is the local chapter of National Smooth Dancers (NSD), a California ballroom dance organization. There are eight NSD chapters in California and SDSD has been an active chapter since 1949.
We find many ways to celebrate in dance. We romance our Valentines, dance at our indoor picnics, dance in costume for Halloween, honor the holiday spirit of giving, and celebrate other festive occasions throughout the year.
SDSD dance socials feature contests, entertainment and many surprises. SDSD dance socials are open to the public. See Our Next Social and Our Yearly Event Schedule for details on our events.
